Buy-Back Terms
LOTTEDS JEWELRY
Buy-Back Terms
The promise in writing. Same numbers as the Transparency page, in the language of an agreement.
1 · What we buy back
Any LOTTEDS piece you bought from us, as long as it still carries its original number and can be matched to your order. The offer is per piece. One piece may be redeemed through Store Credit or through cash — once, not both.
2 · The formula
2.1 Handling fee
30% of the price you paid. Reduced by membership tier: L1 100% · L2 90% · L3 75% · L4 60%. It covers metal purity assay, gemstone re-verification, ultrasonic cleaning, rhodium re-plating, re-photography and re-listing, the unpacking video record, and the upkeep of your Asset File.
2.2 Return shipping and insured freight
A flat $60 plus transport insurance at 2% of the price you paid. Freight is halved from L3 and waived at L4. The insurance line is a third-party cost and is never discounted. This line is $0 if the piece is handed in at one of our regional receiving points.
2.3 Re-import duty and import VAT
Charged at actual cost, with the customs receipt shown to you line by line. This is the only deduction that is not a fixed number, and the only one we cannot discount — we do not collect this money, customs does. On our standard formal-import route into China the combined figure is 22.04% (MFN duty 8% + import VAT 13% under HS 7113.11.10). It is 0% if the piece is received at a regional point outside China, or if a returned-goods relief window applies.
2.4 Packaging and certificate re-issue
$30. New box, pouch, certificate card and number plate. Halved at L2 and waived from L3. Your piece number never changes.
2.5 Payment and currency costs — cash track only
A $25 transfer fee and 1.5% currency conversion. Waived from L3. Store Credit incurs neither, because nothing leaves the store.
3 · The floor
4 · Store Credit and cash
| Store Credit | Cash | |
|---|---|---|
| Base | buy-back base | buy-back base |
| Time bonus | +5% for each year held · 125% at year five · 130% from year six | none — capped at the price you paid |
| Extra costs | none | transfer fee + currency conversion |
| How it is spent | on anything in this store | paid to your account |
Store Credit cannot be withdrawn, gifted, or converted into gift cards, and it may not cover more than half of a new order. This is what keeps the promise fundable for everyone rather than for whoever arrives first.
5 · Quote-first
- Send us the piece number and photographs.
- We send a written quote — every line, every number, including the duty treatment.
- You accept or decline. If you decline, the piece is returned to you and we pay that postage.
- Only then do you ship.
If the quote and the piece on arrival disagree, you may walk away at any point at our cost.
6 · Conditional charges — quoted in writing first
Repair of deep scratches, a distorted shank, a missing stone or a broken link; re-sizing on request; re-certification where the original certificate is lost or authenticity is questioned; a rush service; customs storage caused by an inaccurate declaration. None of these are applied without your written agreement. Decline, and the piece is bought back as-is or returned.
7 · What we never charge for
- Depreciation, or loss of value for the years you wore it.
- Storage while the piece is with us, and insurance once it is in our hands.
- Valuation and appraisal — always free.
- Routine customer service and the upkeep of your Asset File.
- Our own resale paperwork and tax reporting.
8 · What we may not charge for by law
- Returning a piece within the EU 14-day right of withdrawal.
- Repairs covered by the 2-year legal guarantee or any implied warranty in your state or country.
- Anything arising from an error in our own description — in which case we bear postage both ways.
Membership tiers can only add. No tier shortens a statutory right.
9 · Anti-arbitrage
The time bonus applies to Store Credit only. Cash is capped at the price you paid. A piece may be redeemed once, and the redemption retires that piece number's buy-back eligibility. We do this so the promise stays solvent — not to make it harder to use.
